How do you make frozen yogurt bars
Holy moly, these gems couldn’t be easier to make. Like, you really can’t mess them up and they are so customizable! These are for busy bees everywhere. My toddler gobbled these up. Aren’t kid-friendly recipes the best?
Key ingredients
The best part about this 5-ingredient recipe is that you likely have all the ingredients on hand. Hallelujah!
Yogurt: I like plain, unsweetened, whole milk (full fat) yogurt best here. The ingredients should be similar to milk, cream, and probiotics. I didn’t use Greek yogurt, but that would work as well! If you don’t have full fat, you can try 2% but I would avoid non-fat as the flavor and texture isn’t as rich and may taste icier once frozen. Peanut butter: This adds crave-worthy flavor and amazing texture. I use natural peanut butter with just peanuts and salt as the ingredients. Banana: For subtle sweetness and texture! Pure vanilla extract: I love the flavor this adds without extra sugar. Cinnamon: Even more yummy flavor that pairs well with the peanut butter in lieu of sweetener.
Tips to make this recipe
This recipe is super simple to adjust based on what you love and have on hand in the fridge. Easy is best!
Use full fat yogurt: This is key for the best texture and to avoid that iciness. Add toppings: Try granola for crunch plus fresh blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries. You could also take it up a notch with shredded coconut, chocolate chips, and an extra swirl of peanut butter! Let sit at room temperature: Allowing bars to sit out for a few minutes before eating helps soften them up and make them easier to eat.
Flavor variations
Whether you’re looking to substitute the nut butter or try different fruit, the sky is the limit here. If you’re adding fruit, fresh or frozen works–just chop it into bite size pieces for seamless slicing.
Chunky monkey: Fold in chopped walnuts and chocolate chips. Coconut almond: Use almond butter and fold in shredded coconut. Lemon blueberry: Swap in cashew butter and fold in lemon zest and fresh blueberries. Chocolate strawberry: Swap in almond butter and add cocoa powder, a splash of maple syrup, extra vanilla, and sliced strawberries. Flavored yogurt: Feel free to use vanilla yogurt if you want sweeter bars.
How to store
Yogurt bars should be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Once they’re frozen, you can transfer them to a freezer baggie.
