Our household has fallen in love with these soft, juicy apples cooked in the air fryer. They are subtly sweet and perfectly scented with cinnamon making them taste exactly like apple pie filling. We love it over vanilla ice cream for a no-fuss dessert or treat but our favorite way of enjoying them is to serve them over Greek yogurt for a gluten-free breakfast.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Apples. I used Granny Smith apples but you could use any apple of your choice. I prefer a tart, crisp apple as they cook so much better and hold their shape and flavor well. Gala, Honey Crisp or Fuji apples are all good options. Brown sugar. Honey or maple syrup can be substituted. Melted butter. Use any oil of your choice – coconut oil, avocado oil or olive oil are all good dairy-free and vegan options. Vanilla extract. Ground cinnamon. Other warm spices like ginger, nutmeg, cardamom and allspice are all delicious with apples. Apple pie spice can also be used. Lemon juice.
