Ingredients Needed
Brussels Sprouts. Bacon. I used streaky bacon. Chicken broth/vegetable stock. Fresh garlic cloves. Salt and black pepper. Fresh lemon juice. A splash of Balsamic vinegar or Balsamic glaze will be delicious too.
How to make Brussels sprouts with bacon
In a large skillet or frying pan, fry the chopped bacon until crisp then remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Pour off the bacon fat, leaving a few tablespoons of bacon grease behind. Add the halved brussels sprouts and cook until golden, tossing the pan every few minutes to ensure even browning. Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Pour in the stock then partially cover with a lid and allow to cook until the sprouts are fork tender and the stock has been absorbed. Add the bacon back to the pan then season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice then serve.
Can I make this ahead?
The bacon brussels sprouts are definitely best serve immediately but leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a hot pan, in the microwave or in an air fryer. To prepare ahead, cook to recipe instructions then transfer to a baking sheet and cover with foil. Reheat in a hot oven before serving.
