Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies

I remember making a big mess in the kitchen with my brother and sister. My sister was the neat one and made her cookies look perfect, my brother would dip a few and then just start eating, and I would go crazy with ALL of the toppings. Mine weren’t the prettiest, but man were they tasty. We always had so much fun. This year, I wanted to carry on our family tradition and make Chocolate Dipped OREO Cookies with Caleb and Maxwell. They love OREO cookies and when I told them we were going to dip them in chocolate, their eyes lit up. OREO cookies AND chocolate? A dream come true!

We went all out and dipped three kinds of Oreo cookies-regular, winter, and peppermint. We dipped the cookies in chocolate and white chocolate. I put out several toppings for decorating-sprinkles, crushed candy canes, chopped nuts, and coconut. Feel free to use whatever toppings you want! It’s fun to have a variety.

The boys were so excited and had a BLAST! OREO cookie eyes:)

Josh and I supervised, but we let them go to town. We knew it was going to get messy, but that was all part of the fun!

The boys did a great job, they are our little holiday helpers.

Of course, there was tasting along the way. You can’t put out cookies, chocolate, and sprinkles and expect the kids to stay perfectly clean and not have a taste. They had chocolate faces by the end. Shhh, I had to have a few tastes too:)

The winter OREO cookies are red on the inside and made a very pretty chocolate dipped cookie. Caleb’s favorite color is red so he bit into a few cookies until he found a red one:)

The holiday sprinkles made the outside of the cookies extra festive.

My favorite combo was the Peppermint OREO cookies dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed candy canes. Pure heaven!! I am hiding these ones from the boys:) I am so happy the boys had fun making Chocolate Dipped OREO cookies. It was fun bringing back a family tradition from my childhood.
