Updated April 28, 2011 These cookies are not the prettiest, they really don’t look special, but I am telling you, they are!!I have been eating these cookies since I was little. They are one of my favorites! They always remind me of good times:) The key ingredients are oatmeal, chunky cinnamon applesauce, tons of cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, lots of vanilla, raisins, and chocolate chips. The cookies are nice and chunky! You get a mouth full of YUM in every bite! The cookies taste great out of the oven, but our family eats them frozen. That is what makes these cookies special! As soon as they cool, bag them up or put them in a container in the freezer. I promise, they are SO much better frozen! We buy Musselman’s Cinnamon Chunky Applesauce for this recipe. Sometimes it is hard to find, so if you see it on the grocery shelf, stock up! I know you will want to keep these cookies in the freezer at all times. That is another good thing, you can always have some on hand without them going bad! And don’t worry about thawing, you want them frozen for the best flavor!

Salt 2 tsp. Cinnamon ¼ tsp. Cloves ½ tsp. Nutmeg 1 tsp. Soda 2 ½ -3 c. oats Chocolate chips- we use semi-sweet, and we never measure! Add what you like!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl cream butter, brown sugar, and egg. Mix in chunky applesauce. Add raisins and vanilla. In a separate bowl sift flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and soda. Add into liquid mixture. Stir well. Next, stir in oats and chocolate chips. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for about 12-14 minutes. For the best results, freeze them after they are cool! They are SO good frozen!
