Ok, so there really isn’t much to say about baked brie. I mean, cheese. Baked. Yup, sold! There just isn’t anything that can beat hot, melty cheese topped with honey and crispy sage. And you’ll be hard-pressed to find an appetizer that is this simple as well as being impressive. The honey is the perfect partner for the rich cheese and the crispy sage leaves add a little texture and aroma. Perfect served with crusty bread or crackers.
Ingredients Needed
Brie cheese. Use a wheel of brie. Any soft cheese with a rind will work. Camembert is also a good option. Honey. Honey adds just the perfect amount of sweetness to cut through the rich cheese. A few dollops of jam will work similarly and maple syrup can also be used. Raspberry jam or fig jam are particularly delicious with Brie. Fresh sage. Fresh thyme or rosemary will also work. Fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary are also good options. Bread, baguette slices or crackers for dipping. I made garlic ciabatta toasts by toasting very thin slices of ciabatta drizzle with olive oil until golden brown and rubbing each slice with a clove of garlic. You could also treat this like a small pot of fondue and serve it with apple slices. Other serving suggestions: Baked brie makes a fantastic centerpiece for a cheese board. Serve the warm brie with grapes, crackers, bread, nuts (pecans/walnuts/pistachios), preserves like apricot jam or caramelized onions for a fantastic Thanksgiving or Christmas appetizer.
How to bake brie
How long to bake brie?
Baked at 200ºC/400ºF, the cheese shouldn’t take long at all. Bake until the cheese is just soft and melted, 7-10 minutes should be enough depending on the size of the cheese.
