There are so many health benefits from lemongrass that they are actually nicknamed ‘fever grass’ too. If you are looking for ways to keep you energized throughout the day, this is the tea you need! The secret behind this tea is that it’s free of any refined sugar, caffeine, and dairy. I bet that’s what gives us the boost that lasts all day. I agree to be sent email.

It’s just recently that I started growing my own lemongrass plant on my patio and also started a simple routine of making this tea to kickstart the day. I have felt so good with such a simple change that I was inspired to share this with my readers and spread the joy.
I would suggest that you try this too. Not just for you, but for your kids and family too. Now that kids are going back to school, a simple yet powerful lemongrass tea will help them stay healthy. The anti-bacterial and anti-fungal benefits from lemongrass can also fight off infections. If you like to drink herbal tea or Indian kashaya check out my Kashaya recipe.

Ingredients

Lemongrass leaves : I used homegrown lemongrass leaves. Look for healthy and long leaves for wholesome flavors.Ginger: Use fresh ginger root to get enhanced flavor but this is an optional ingredient.

See the recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Rinse your lemongrass to get rid of dirt and dust. Watch out for those sharp edges as you cut them, as they can deliver a sharp cut sometimes. Keep a pot for boiling water over your stovetop and add in your lemongrass leaves. This is also a good time to add grated or crushed ginger root if you prefer to use ginger. Simmer your tea in the pot covered for about 10 minutes. Switch off the heat. Strain the lemongrass leaves and ginger roots, from the tea and serve hot with or without sugar.
