Lamb Biryani

I have always wanted to try making a Biryani from SCRATCH and with the help of my wonderful friend Lisha Naidu’s mom’s recipe, I finally did it. I did tweak it here and there adding some things to the meat and I left out the fennel powder (I couldn’t find it) and the lentils. I also don’t use fresh Coriander because I hate it!! I used Italian Parsley. Oh I ALSO didn’t use the topping they suggested, I just fried some extra potatoes, tossed them in salt and Paprika and topped the assembled Biryani with that....

My Supplement Routine

And I quote: “As a dietitian, one of the questions I get asked most often (other than ‘should I go gluten-free’) is ‘what supplements should I be taking?’” This question is so popular because the supplement industry is cah-raaaazy. Back in grad school I took an awesome sports nutrition class. I remember an RD from Abbott Nutrition coming in to talk to us about the industry as an insider. I basically learned that because supplements (unlike food) are not at all regulated for safety, effectiveness, or quality, you have to be suuuuper careful both when investigating them for yourself and when recommending them to clients....

Nepali Momos With Spinach And Ricotta

Making dumplings is serious business in my family. Frankly, I am rarely a part of the process, except when it comes to eating them, because my skills are far below the standard set by my parents. The dumpling plan is usually made ahead of time, on a Friday night, when my dad announces, we’re making dumplings tomorrow. It means that the goal of the next day is defined, and my mom needs to put down whatever she’s working on, just to focus on the dumplings....

Old Beijing Fried Carrot Fritters

Fried carrot fritters bring back some of my favorite childhood memories. When I was in elementary school, I was living with my grandparents, who enjoyed vegetables and very simple food. It was usually stuffed in a paper bag. And I couldn’t help but reach for one of them on the way home....

Pork And Pepper Stir Fry

This Asian-style pork stir fry was one of the earliest recipes that I posted on this blog, like, in the first month of blogging. Of course, we all love a great Sweet and Sour Chicken or Orange Beef once in a while....
