With the Festive season coming up and our Summer sure to be hotter than ever, I’ve already started thinking about easy drinks to serve a crowd. I like any cocktail or drink that I can make in a large jug and just top up. This punch is both easy to make and absolutely perfect for the warmer weather coming our way. Rooibos tea is the main ingredient in this punch and is a South African favourite. Wikipedia says “Rooibos is usually grown in a small area in the region of the Western Cape province of South Africa. In South Africa, it is common to prepare rooibos tea in the same manner as black tea and add milk and sugar to taste. Other methods include a slice of lemon and using honey instead of sugar to sweeten.” Rooibos tea is incredibly healthy and has a whole host of benefits. (Read more here)
Rooibos tea benefits:
As a little girl, my gran used to take me to the University of Pretoria where she worked and she would prepare sweet, milky rooibos tea for us to enjoy in one of the big conference rooms. I felt ever the lady and every time I smell rooibos, I think of her. Back to the punch, I decided to add peach juice because I think it compliments the rooibos so well and added loads of fresh mint, sliced lemon and peaches to the punch to add even more flavour and colour and served it with a glug of vodka and lots of ice. Of course, the vodka can be left out to make a non alcoholic punch and it really is delicious this way, but who doesn’t love a glug of vodka? No one, that’s who!
