My Top Picks:
Reviews of The Best Brownie Pans
1. What’s in My Kitchen: USA Pan Bakeware Rectangular Cake Pan
I prefer to make my brownies in a 9 by 13 pan, which may seem like a lot, but trust me you’ll be happy to have that many brownies. USA Pan makes amazing, sturdy bakeware that’s usually on the more affordable side, and this one is no exception! It’s a light-colored pan, which is always my preference for cookware because it doesn’t absorb as much heat as a dark pan. This usually means that it’ll have a nice, even bake. Even though this isn’t dishwasher-safe, it cleans up easily because of its nonstick coating (plus, I recommend lining your brownie pan with parchment paper anyway so they’re easy to lift out). Use this rectangular pan to make my classic brownie recipe! The Specs:
Material: Aluminized steel Dimensions: 9 x 13 x 2.25 inches Weight: 1.9 pounds Nonstick: Yes Dishwasher safe: No
The Pros:
Brownies release easily Sturdy design Distributes heat evenly Fits a lot of brownies
The Cons:
Hand-wash only

2. Best Splurge: Williams Sonoma Goldtouch Pro Nonstick Square Cake Pan
I’m ALWAYS recommending products from Williams Sonoma’s Goldtouch Pro line because they look SO pretty and bake everything perfectly. This comes in 8- by 8-inch or 9- by 9-inch sizes, so the brownies will be a little thicker and require some extra oven time. Still, they’ll get an even bake, thanks to the light-colored steel. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that this pan is pretty enough to serve your goodies at a party. The Specs:
Material: Aluminized steel Dimensions: 8 x 8 x 2 inches, 9 x 9 x 2.25 inches Weight: 1.2 pounds, 1.6 pounds Nonstick: Yes Dishwasher safe: Yes
The Pros:
Easy to clean Sleek design Distributes heat evenly Nonstick
The Cons:
May take longer to bake
What Others are Saying: Food & Wine named this the best overall brownie pan. Buy the Williams Sonoma Goldtouch Pro Nonstick Square Cake Pan:
3. Best Budget: Wilton Performance Aluminum Square Cake and Brownie Pan
Wilton is always my go-to pick for budget-friendly baking supplies because it’s reliable and always gets great reviews. This aluminum pan, in particular, is durable while still being super lightweight, and it gives an even bake. It doesn’t have a nonstick coating, so if you don’t go with my parchment paper trick, make sure you add plenty of cooking spray to the pan so your brownies lift out easily. If you’re a first-time baker or just not looking to spend too much right now, this is a great option! The Specs:
Material: Aluminum Dimensions: 8 x 8 x 2 inches Weight: 0.4 pounds Nonstick: No Dishwasher safe: Yes
The Pros:
Easy to clean Lightweight Affordable
The Cons:
No nonstick coating
What Others are Saying: Buy the Wilton Performance Aluminum Square Cake and Brownie Pan:
4. Best All Edge Brownie Pan: Baker’s Edge Brownie Pan
I can never get enough of brownie edges — the crunchy, crispy portions are the BEST part! If you’re like me, you should totally grab this pan with center dividers that bake brownies with two crispy edges. I love that this pan has thick handles to make it even easier to carry, even with an oven mitt on, too. It offers some extra crunch, and there’s an included spatula to help get the brownies out! Just note that you might need to use a little less batter for these, so they don’t overflow. The Specs:
Material: Carbon steel Dimensions: 14.25 x 10 x 2.33 inches Weight: 1.8 pounds Nonstick: Yes Dishwasher safe: No
The Pros:
Perfect for brownie edge lovers Distributes heat well Has handles for easier carrying Brownies lift out easily
The Cons:
Hand-wash only Not a versatile option Expensive

Why You Can Trust Me
Hi, I’m Maria, the founder of Two Peas and Their Pod! I bake a TON, but brownies might secretly be my favorite sweet treat. They’re always a crowd-pleaser, and I’ve been perfecting my brownie recipes for years. Because of all that trial and error (and taste testing!), I know that a big part of getting it right is having a solid pan to cook them in.
Everything to Know Before Buying a Brownie Pan
What to Consider Before Buying a Brownie Pan
Before picking a brownie pan, here’s a few things I recommend thinking about first!
Material: I recommend metal pans because they heat up and cool down quickly, so the baking process is a little easier but still quick. The brownies also rise higher and bake more evenly in metal pans. The trick is going with a light-colored metal because it’ll bake more evenly since it doesn’t absorb as much heat. More heat could mean the brownies get brown and crispy on the edges before actually cooking through the center.
Size: You can find several different size brownie pans. My favorites are 9×13 inches because they make a large batch (about a dozen or two) in one swoop. They’ll also bake faster because it’s a thinner layer of batter than if you took the same recipe and squished it all into a smaller square pan. It’s all up to your preference, though!
Style: If you’re a big fan of edge pieces, you might want to consider an all-edge brownie pan, like the Williams Sonoma, Gotham, or Wilton ones. Otherwise, you can stick to a typical pan that’s more versatile so you can use it for your other baking and cooking needs.
How Many Brownies Fit in a 9×13 Pan?
A 9×13-inch pan can make about 12 to 24 brownies, but it’s totally up to you! You can cut them into smaller or larger squares depending on how you want to serve them.
What Size is a Brownie Pan?
There are a variety of brownie pan sizes. I typically use a 9×13-inch pan, and even though that may seem big, the brownies definitely won’t go to waste in my house! But you can also use 7- by 11-inch or 8- by 12-inch pans — you’ll just need to bake them longer since the brownies will be thicker.
Can You Bake Brownies in a Glass Pan?
Yes, you can bake brownies in a glass pan, but again, I recommend metal pans. If you want to use a glass pan, bake the brownies for 5 minutes longer.
How Long Does it Take to Cook Brownies in a Muffin Pan?
I recommend using a mini muffin pan if you want to make bite-size brownies. And with that size pan, I recommend baking them at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes. After that, continue to bake them until a toothpick comes out clean.
