I can and will put avocado in all the things. So creamy! So lush! So good for the soul! If you’ve laid mouth on my Chocolate Blueberry Avocado Smoothie, Avocado Ice Cream or Avocado Brownies, you know ‘cado adds unparalleled creaminess and supreme nutrition. This smoothie has lovely vanilla notes that pair so beautifully with blueberries and avocado. It’s actually quite filling from all the healthy fats, too! Can we all agree on one thing for certain? Avocado for president.
Ingredients
Avocado: You’ll need half a ripe avocado. It should be nice and soft and scoopable, but not brown. Hot tip: Pop it in the fridge once it’s soft to prevent further ripening! Frozen blueberries: Truly the loveliest pairing for avocados in smoothie. Just slightly sweet. Frozen wild blueberries are great, too. Medjool dates: I don’t love banana in my smoothies, so dates are the perfect way to add natural sweetness and fiber (since blueberries aren’t very sweet on their own) without banana flavor. You can use just one for a less sweet smoothie. Vanilla extract: That little pop of flavor that deepens the amazing factor ten fold. Almond milk: You can use any milk you like, but I like the extra vanilla flavor of unsweetened vanilla. You could also use water. Hemp seeds: For a boost of complete protein. Ice: Ice adds just a bit of thickness to achieve the ideal texture.
Substitutions and dietary swaps
Nut free: Use oat milk, coconut milk or water. Hemp seeds: Omit or sub chia seeds or flax seeds (like my PB&J Smoothie!) Blueberries: You could also do a frozen berry blend!
Let’s make it!
